A short statement of the proposed artwork's relationship to the theme of "Venus Rising, A Celebration of Women (150-500 words).
Thank you very much for the opportunity to participate in this event, which is very significant to me. I am the product of a single Mom. My Mom became a widow at 18; my Dad died in an aviation accident in Miami, Fl. he was a commercial pilot. She had the opportunity to leave me with my grandparents and allow them to raise me, but she decided instead to grow me herself, and here I am, giving credit and praising what important a woman is. I decided to use these colors because they represent and are aligned with the Greek Myth of "Venus Rising" and what women represent. Purple combines the calm stability of blue and the fierce energy of red. The color purple is often associated with royalty, nobility, luxury, power, and ambition. Purple also represents meanings of wealth, extravagance, creativity, wisdom, dignity, grandeur, devotion, peace, pride, mystery, independence, and magic. Pink, is thought to be a calming color associated with love, kindness, and femininity. Many people immediately associate the color with all things feminine and girly. It might also bring to mind romance and holidays such as Valentine's Day. Light blue is a peaceful, calming color. According to color psychology, blue is associated with trustworthiness and reliability. Blue is also said to promote feelings of tranquility; light blue's gentle appearance means it is particularly likely to make that impression. The color gold is the color of extravagance, wealth, riches, and excess, and shares several of the same attributes of the color yellow. ... The color gold is cousin to the color yellow and the color brown, and is also associated with illumination, love, compassion, courage, passion, magic, and wisdom. Green is a cool color that symbolizes nature and the natural world. Perhaps because of its strong associations with nature, green is often thought to represent tranquility, good luck, health, and jealousy. ... Green is often used in decorating for its calming effect. Women represent to me: Calm, Stability, Kindness, Peace, Love, Compassion, Courage and healing.
