Venus has often been observed to have a subtle glow on its right side, this is why records exist of it being described to have a crescent shape. My submission is inspired by this ashen light, my lighting is similar to that off a dawn slowly rising over the subject allowing the viewer to only see the outer rim of the shape. The color is inspired by the deepest valleys of Venus where when temps reach 750 degrees or above, the ground glows a copper red. Venus was regarded as a deity of ancient Italy and in several Latin cities temples in Venus’s honor were built, inspiring the name of this piece “Religion”.
